What is a detachable towbar?
A detachable towbar is a towbar that can be disconnected and separated from your car when you no longer need it. This type of towbar us usually purchased by people who only use a towbar a few times a year. The most appealing benefit of this type of towbar is that the towbar, by being able to be removed, does not affect the design of the car.
Ease of use
The detachable towbar can be connected, disconnected within seconds and secured with a lock. This will protect the towbar against possible theft.
Safety
It is often thought that the fixed towbar is a stronger and safer solution than a detachable towbar. This is incorrect. The detachable towbar offers the same security and strength as the fixed towbar. The towbar also has a safety indicator that shows whether you have correctly locked the towbar in place. If the indicator is coloured red, the towbar has not been properly connected. If a green colour is showing, you can safely transport your items.
Availability
Brink Towbars has developed three versions of the detachable towbar. Vertical detachable, horizontal detachable and diagonal detachable. However, a detachable towbar cannot be mounted on every car. The main reason behind this has to do with the construction of the car.
Alternative
If a detachable towbar is not available for your car, we are glad to help you look for another suitable towbar solution. You could choose between a fixed towbar and a retractable towbar.
